The Big Mix

Parents,

Wash those jerseys!

We are trying an experiment this Saturday. We have permission from the league to mix up the teams and play this weekends games. Both of our game are at 8:30 a.m.

Here is the plan. All eighteen players are going to assemble at Kelly West and we will draw names from a hat. The kids will switch jerseys and one team will play at Kelly and the other will drive to Audubon Elementary. We will give the jerseys back on Wednesday.

To do this, we are going to be at Kelly Park on time. I’d like to have names drawn and be down the road by 8:05. I know this is a imposition, but we all need to make every effort to be at Kelly West at 8:00 am.

Setting up different teams will be exciting for the kids. By scrambling the teams we will create different combinations of players and allow new patterns to form. Kids that have never played on the field in a game situation will have a new experience. Please try and get to the field so we can draw the names, swap the shirts and be ready for an 8:30 kickoff.

Missile Intercepts Satellite

WASHINGTON - The Pentagon says a U.S. missile smashed a disabled spy satellite that was headed for Earth and the military is tracking the debris as it falls over the Atlantic and Pacific oceans.

Marine Gen. James Cartwright, vice chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, told a Pentagon press conference Thursday that he couldn't rule out that hazardous material would fall to the earth.

But he says so far officials have tracked "nothing larger than a football."

Cartwright says officials also "have a high degree of confidence" — though are not ready to say for sure — that the missile launched from a Navy ship near Hawaii struck the satellite's fuel tank. Officials said the toxic hydrazine fuel in the tank would have caused a hazard had it fallen to earth.

The Murder of Rene LaSalle

Rene Robert Cavalier LaSalle was murdered allegedly by the members of his crew yesterday. LaSalle, the leader of the expedition to the "new world" was supposedly very difficult to get along with and his journey to the "new world" was failing. LaSalle was killed in the "new world" and the expedition will not continue to try and conquer the "new world" for France. The members of the expedition will return home in a few months. Our respects to LaSalle's family.
