Many famous people and artists were born or lived in Toledo, including Al-Zarqali, Garcilaso de la Vega, Eleanor of Toledo , Alfonso X and El Greco. It was also the place of important historic events such as the Visigothic Councils of Toledo. As of 2007, the city has a population of 78,618 and an area of 232.1 km2 (89.59 square miles).

The website from this hotel says:

A traditional and emblematic hotel located in the heart of the baroque and neoclassic old town, opposite the Alcázar, 2 minutes walk from the cathedral and the Plaza de Zocodover.

Due to its central location, within 50 meters of the Plaza de Zocodover, and sharing ownership with the Carlos V hotel across from the Alcazar of Toledo) it offers all its guests an ideal starting point for visiting the Imperial City. The medieval Castilian Character is evident in Alfonso VI in both its style of construction as well as in its decoration. The hotel has conference rooms with capacities of up to 360 people. We have a well equipped conference room which will make any meeting or presentation as comfortable and successful as possible. In our largest hall we serve the most
select dishes at banquets as well as tourist group meals.
